Abstract

The online viewer "Human-Wildlife Conflict Hotspots" visualizes potential conflict areas identified within the ForestConnect project (2024–2026), supported by the Interreg Danube Region Programme co-funded by the European Union. 

The datasets is based on conflict records from Romania, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Montenegro for the period 2020-2025. For Ukraine and Montenegro data was only gathered for the project pilot territories; for Romania and Bulgaria data was gathered for the whole countries. The data from Bulgaria represents only conflicts between human and brown bear, including bear presence in settlements. The source of the data is official institutional data from relevant authorities, provided to the ForestConnect partners through official communication.
